Gasoline Fire Burn Bobby was burned while attempting to light a fire with gasoline, on a Friday evening. The following Monday we started using Emu Oil. By Saturday (5 days later) he looked 100% better. Bobby was back in school on Monday. It had only been ten days since the accident and only seven days since we started using the Emu Oil. The teachers at Flathead High School could not believe he had been so badly burned untill they saw the photos. We used Emu Oil for one and one half weeks. As you can see by the photos, Bobby is doing great. We highly recommend Emu Oil products. Bobby had no negative reaction to the oil. The cream the doctor gave him caused an upset stomach.

Burned on her Birthday We didn't even know anything was wrong, till she walked in the house then screamed," says Mary Chidester "She says it just didn't hurt untill then. We all did that headlong rush you do when you hear that hurt cry your child does when you know it is a serious problem." Mary went on to tell us that her daughter, Cheryl had gone to throw some trash in the yard burner, a 55 gallon barrel used on their farm. As she got close to the barrel, she tripped on her shoelace, fell forward and hit the side of the hot barrel. The barrel tipped, then came back up and hit her on her upraised hand. "Her arm looked like a horror movie picture of a zombie," said Mary, "The right arm was burned from wrist to elbow about 4 inches wide. The skin had already ruptured, and was just hanging there. The palm of her left hand was bright red, but not ruptured." They stuck Cheryl's arm under cold running water and called the hospital to let them know they were on the way. The hospital personnel suggested wet towels with ice bags in them for the 20-minute trip into town. After the Chidester's got to the hospital, Cheryl was given painkillers. Then the nurses began cleaning the wound. Nurses scrubbed the raw arm as clean as they could and then began picking out the pieces of rust embedded in Cheryl's arm. Mary watched the nurses flinch as they worked on her daughter's arm, knowing how much this was going to hurt later. "They put silver sulfadiazine cream on her burns and sent her home with a prescription of hydrocodone," says Mary. "We had to bring her back the next day, to check how the burns were doing and to make sure if she was getting infection or not. The rust and all the open wounds worried them." Mary was told to give Cheryl a pain pill every morning, scrub off the old silver sulfadiazine cream and then reapply new cream. "It was very hard on both of us." Sighed Mary. "I told my egger list family about it, and everyone jumped to tell me about emu oil." Two of her egging friends, Peg Gardiner and D'Shea Villoch sent her emu oil products in the form of a 25% emu oil cooling gel as well as the pure emu oil. "I am very grateful to both, Cheryl's burns were bad enough and large enough, we have gone through both bottles." The accident took place on April 14, Cheryl's 13th birthday. It took 4 days to get the emu products so they had to use the silver sulfadiazine cream untill then. Aside from the discomfort of cleaning it off and reapplying, Cheryl would itch. When the cream and oil arrived they started using them on the bottom half of her arm because it had the worse burns. After the first day Cheryl wanted it on all of her burns, she felt so much better and no longer itched. Mary tells us that they put the gel on under Cheryl's bandages when she had to be at school all day because the pure oil wouldn't last all day with just one application and the bandages would begin to stick to the wounds. The pure emu oil kept the wounds moist when she had the bandages off. "The old burnt skin came off in about 2 days, and pretty new skin was under it. We took a picture the day we got the emu oil, and one 5 days later," Mary smiled "the old skin was all off, and even the discoloration around the burns was gone." Cheryl loved the smell of the cooling gel and couldn't wait to have her bandages changed in the mornings since it didn't have to be scrubbed off the way the cream did. Mary was amazed at the difference the emu oil made. "Cheryl's arm seldom hurt after about a week use. The skin was still very tender, and the least bump broke the skin, but the only scars she will have are where she itched through the bandages when all we had was the doctor's cream." Mary tells me (as of July) that Cheryl is fine and the scars are not noticeable unless she has been in the sun. After spending some time in the sun, you can see the outline of the burn on her arm, but otherwise would never know it had happened. Dave and Mary Chidester can be reached via chid@oztech.com

HM Wellness Center Endorsement I will gladly indorse Thunder Ridge Emu Oil because of two personal crisis situations. Both occurrences were 3rd degree burns on the hand. The intense pain decreased in about one hour, and the blister flattened by the next morning. I was able to rub the blistered area without discomfort within a few hours of the burn. The burn recovery was nothing short of a miracle response. I have used Thunder Ridge Emu Oil with positive results on clients in my practice with various chronic skin symptoms. My personal and professional experience has shown this to be an exceptional healing oil. Dori Luneski, RN, Naturopathic Practitioner

"I think I'm a believer in that Emu stuff!" A few weeks ago at the Salisbury Civic Center in Salisbury, MD, I purchased a small bottle of EMU oil from you to try on some severe burns my 25-year-old son received the weekend before. He was sitting next to a barbecue grill when someone inadvertently knocked it over on him. His shirt caught fire. As he rolled on the ground trying to put out the fire, he rolled across the grates of the grill causing deeply embedded burns like those of a branding iron on his arm and across his back before someone could pull off his burning shirt. We gave him the Emu Oil, but he was reluctant to try it for fear of infection, his arm was a mass of open slashes, which he kept covered with burn cream prescribed by his doctor. He agreed to try it on his back where the burns were not as deep but very painful. He was due to return to work last Monday, but the wounds on his arms were breaking open and bleeding and felt like his nerves were still exposed. He returned to work this past Wednesday and began applying Emu Oil to his arm on Thursday because it wasn't quite as messy as the heavy white cream. We were away this weekend and when we returned home we asked about his burns. He smiled and rubbed his arm. All the wounds were healed over, smooth and touchable. He said, "I think I'm a believer in that Emu stuff" and can't wait to share his secret with my other son who is a tattoo artist living in Seattle. He's quite sure a tattoo will heal overnight, or at least in a few days with emu oil. L. B. McConaghie

Emu Oil - Something New Under the Sun(burn) Many travelers don't realize that taking along emu oil makes summer vacation more comfortable and therefore more enjoyable. By applying a small amount of oil, you can take the burn out of sunburn and sidestep the peeling phase. You can take the sting out of most insect bites and soothe chafing after a day's sightseeing. You can also prevent chapped dry skin and lops in any climate. Esta Kronbert, M.D., a Texas based dermatologist began prescribing emu oil for her patients several years ago after using it on a sunburn. "When I realized how well it fights inflammation, I began using it for many different problems, all with good results." A spider bite on her ankle was the next test. "Within a few hours after applying emu oil, all the stinging was gone" the physician said. Kronberg said emu oil begins healing faster and relieves pain so patients feel better sooner. "It works quickly and our patients have been really pleased. They are intrigued because it is a natural substance." In her practice, Kronberg finds emu oil is the best treatment for first and second degree burns and she has also had good success prescribing emu oil for rosacea patients. "Even though it is an oil, it seems to heal inflamed, ruddy and raw skin," explained the physician. At a recent medical symposium, the physician and her husband met a nurse who suffered from psoriasis. After using emu oil, the woman reported a clearing of scaling skin lesions and being able to wear short sleeves and shorts for the first time in 10 years. "I was absolutely sold after that," Kronberg said. Esta Kronberg, M.D

Emu Oil - Cooking Oil Exploded in my face One week ago tonight while cooking, I had oil explode in my face. I received 1st and 2nd degree burns on my face and chest. My daughter recommended that I try Emu Oil. A quick trip to the vitamin store at the mall and I was amazed. The pain subsided immediately, and tonight a week later, the only remaining evidence of the burns is my eyelid, which I did not realize initially I had burned, so I did not put the emu oil there...but that is rapidly healing. Your product is sensational. Right now, everyone that has seen me in the past week is going out and purchasing Emu Oil to keep in the medicine cabinet! Gratefully, Cathy McGravey

Hot about Medical Treatment Looking back on the last few months, Merv Randle expresses some outrage over the medical community's lack of expertise in treating burn victims in general and himself in particular. Merv is Chairman of the Nelson Giant's Basketball Team and host of "Merv & the Mad Chef", a popular two hour television talk show in New Zealand. Callers ring in live on the air to discuss or argue about any topic. Home from a trip with wife Heather, Merv was unpacking their RV in the garage the evening of January 4, 1999. Heather had already gone in the house when Merv grabbed the carryall bag that had ridden most of the way home on top of some chilly-bins (coolers in the USA). The bag had dropped behind the chilly-bins and the strap had fallen over the lever of a LPG cylinder. According to Merv, when he pulled on the bag it opened the lever, turned the bottle on it's side and the liquid gas escaped. Fighting the inevitable, Merv tried to turn off the cylinder. The explosion threw him out of the garage onto the driveway. Mr. Randle's first thoughts were that he was a dead man, then that he had to rescue his wife. Access through the garage was impossible due to the fire so he ran to the locked front door and kicked out the glass to try and alert her. Heather had already spotted the fire and was calling emergency services. Knowing she was safe, Merv went to a neighbor's house and spent an hour in the shower until an ambulance came to take him to the hospital. The freak accident left Merv with 2nd degree burns over 40% of his body. Affected areas included his face, arms, neck and legs. Please take a look at picture number one, taken on January 8, 1999 (or 8 January 1999 if you are in New Zealand), after 4 days in the hospital. While in the hospital Merv was told by his surgeon that they might have to wait five weeks to see whether or not he would have to have skin grafts. "On the second day they lanced all the blisters and cut off the skin where they had been." Merv stated "They covered the burns with dry dressings and removed them three times a day, skin pulled off, and I thought f- this for a game of soldiers, I'm out of here." Merv checked himself out of the hospital January 8, 1999. He and his wife stayed at a motel until the house was rebuilt six months later. Mike Foster, of EMEA, caught Merv at his air-conditioned office on January 11, 1999 where he was seeking refuge from New Zealand's summer heat and offered him a free bottle of Emu Oil. Merv was skeptical but after seeing some burn pictures depicting the results of using emu oil, and listening to Mike, he agreed to try the oil. Within two days the burnt skin on his face had all but disappeared leaving only a few small scars. Please see photo 2, which was taken on January 15. Merv tells us that the emu oil softened the burnt skin, allowing movement without it cracking. He was so impressed with the oil that he cut off the plastic skin that had been applied to his leg to prevent infection (and wasn't working)." After five days use I had a warm shower and most of the blackened skin fell off leaving soft pink new skin." Says this 17 stone (238 pound) giant "It was very delicate, but at least it was skin." He went on to tell us that some areas like the lips, nose and ear lobes took a bit longer to heal and that aside from some small scars on his neck, you could not tell he had been burned. Merv says that the pain was extreme but that within twelve hours the skin had softened and he was much more comfortable. When he went back to see his surgeon six weeks after the accident, the man was astounded at the improvement and remarked that he hadn't done much for Merv. Merv replied "You're bloody right about that!" In the course of their conversation the surgeon remarked that any oil would have assisted in healing. That the surgeon had such knowledge but did not utilize it angers Merv, who wants to know "Well, why don't they use it instead of ripping the skin off with dry dressings? One good thing that came from this experience was that the District Nurse who was daily visiting Merv noticed the speed and improvement to his condition. She explained to Merv that she was nursing a little girl with burnt hands and asked to borrow some oil. "She's now sold on the oil, and carries a jar in her medical bag." says Merv. Merv tells us that "Merv and the Mad Chef" is being replaced for 13 weeks with a new talkback show he will be hosting called "I've been doing it". He will be interviewing local candidates in the up coming elections and encouraging people to phone in with their own questions.
